5 Signs Your Tires Need Balancing and Spooring
As a car owner, Drivemate should really pay attention to car maintenance for safety and driving comfort. One part of the car that needs special attention for maintenance is the car's undercarriage. Drivemate needs to do balancing and spooring to maintain the stability of the car when sliding on the road. However, does Drivermate know what balancing and spooring are? Check out the continuation below!
What is tire balancing and spooring?
Tyre balancing is a procedure for balancing the four wheels of a car until the rotation becomes balanced again. Over time, rims and tires are susceptible to changing their rotation angle. To fix it, it is necessary to balance the four wheels of the car.
Meanwhile, tire spooring is a method of straightening the position of the car's four wheels so that they return to their original state. As time goes by, the angle of the wheel will change due to impacts or loads received. Therefore, the wheel angle needs to be readjusted so that the car can run perfectly. There are many kinds of wheel angles, such as camber, caster and toe angle (toe-in or toe-out).
Difference between balancing and spooring
Many people are still confused and cannot differentiate between balancing and spooring. Basically, tire balancing is balancing the four wheels of the car, while tire spooring is straightening the position of the four wheels of the car. Balancing begins with signs of vibration in the tires when the car is driving at high speed, while spooring is indicated by the tires no longer being straight even though the steering wheel is in a straight position.
Signs that tires need balancing and spooring
Apart from the signs above, there are other signs that Drivemate can recognize as indications that the car needs balancing and spooring, including the following.
1. The steering wheel vibrates
A steering wheel that vibrates while driving is a sign that there is a problem with the Drivemate car's suspension or alignment angles. This definitely feels very uncomfortable and takes away focus when driving. Therefore, if Drivemate feels the steering wheel shaking, immediately take the car to a repair shop for tire spooring and balancing.
2. The steering wheel starts to feel heavy
The next sign is that the steering wheel will start to feel heavy or pull in a certain direction. If the steering wheel feels uncomfortable like this, then you can be sure that the car's wheel alignment needs to be readjusted. Also pay attention to the position of the Drivemate steering wheel, whether the straight angle of the steering wheel does not match the angle of the wheels. If so, then the car's wheel alignment needs to be readjusted immediately.
3. The car is difficult to drive in a straight line
When the wheel alignment or wheel alignment angle changes, it will be difficult for the car to drive straight. The way to check this is to take the car to a straight road at a speed of 40-50 km/hour. Then, release your grip on the steering wheel. If the car has difficulty driving straight or tends to turn to the right or left, then Drivermate should immediately carry out balancing and spooring the tires.
4. Problem with the car's legs
The car's undercarriage is the outermost part that directly touches the road surface. Therefore, make sure the Drivemate car's undercarriage is always in good condition. Problems with the car's legs will definitely be felt immediately when the car is driven. Drivemates definitely feel something is wrong and uncomfortable when driving. Therefore, immediately repair the car's undercarriage if it feels uncomfortable because it can affect road safety.
5. The front and rear tires are not aligned
The next sign is that the front and rear tires are not aligned. If it's like this, then it's a sign that the car needs immediate sprocking and balancing. To find out whether the front and rear tires are aligned or not, Drivemate can see them from a distance of several meters. If the front tires look out of sync with the rear tires, then you can be sure that the car needs spooring or tire balancing.
Well, those are some signs that a car needs balancing and spooring. Drivemates must really pay attention to car tire maintenance to ensure safe driving. Apart from that, if the car feels uncomfortable to drive, immediately check the car parts to find out what is wrong. That way, the problem can be resolved immediately and the car will be comfortable to drive again.
