5 Tips for Keeping Tire Rubber in Good Condition
In a car, tires are a vital part that must be strong and durable. How come? The entire weight of the car and its passengers rests only on the four car tires that touch the asphalt. Therefore, maintaining the quality of tire rubber must be a top priority for Drivemates, especially those who often use their cars to travel long distances.
Some of the characteristics of good tire rubber are that it has a supple texture and is not hard, and does not look worn or thin. So, to maintain the quality of tire rubber so that it remains excellent, there are several things that Drivemate can do.
1. Sufficient tire pressure
Air pressure is also an important factor in the longevity of a tire. If the tire has too high air pressure, the tire rubber will wear out more quickly. Meanwhile, if the tire lacks air, the tire will support a heavier load.
Apart from the four tires installed on the car, Drivemate must also pay attention to the air pressure of the spare tire. Even if not in use, temperature changes can cause the spare tire to lose air pressure. If so, this will certainly be detrimental to Drivemate, especially in critical situations when the main tire leaks and must be replaced.
2. Maintain tires according to their type
Each type of tire has a different type of maintenance. There are tires that last a long time, but there are also tires that need to be rotated frequently because the level of wear on each side is different. So, Drivemate must know what type of tires are installed on the car and consult with the repair shop regarding proper maintenance procedures.
3. Don't park in the hot sun for too long
It turns out that one of the main enemies of tire rubber is the sun. A tire that is exposed to direct sunlight, especially when it is not used, can reduce its quality. The reason is that tire rubber that is exposed to direct sunlight for too long will harden even more.
Apart from not being hot, the tire storage area must also not be damp. Damp storage can cause the quality of the tires to decrease.
4. Clean the dirt between the tires
After Drivemate drives through muddy or sandy roads, it's a good idea to clean the tires immediately after arriving at your destination. If not, small stones stuck in the tire tread will cause scratches that could potentially damage the tire. In addition, the longer Drivemate waits to clean the tires, the harder the dirt will become and the more difficult it will be to remove.
One way to clean tires is to use a special fluid that contains silicon. The silicon content in this cleaner can prevent tire rubber from becoming brittle or hard. If you need it, Drivemate can look for this special fluid at the nearest automotive shop.
5. Do spooring and balancing
Spooring and balancing are straightening and balancing the four car tires so that Drivemate can control the car safely and comfortably. Apart from that, spooring and balancing can also prevent tires from wearing out in just one part, so that the durability of the tire rubber is guaranteed.
So, those are some tips for Drivemates who want to maintain the life of their car tires. For Drivemates who want tires with a strong and durable rubber layer, Dunlop has the solution. Dunlop's tires are made with the best quality so that each tire will have a long life. Each type of tire is also guaranteed to have its own advantages that guarantee Drivemate comfort and safety.
