Reasons Tire Pressure Must Be According to Recommendations
As a vital component in a vehicle, tires are an important aspect of driving safety. To be sure, it is recommended to always pay attention to the tire pressure so that it meets the recommendations.
Please note, every car provides recommendations for ideal tire pressure. Usually the scale is measured in Pounds per Square Inch or often abbreviated as Psi.
In general, normal tire pressure is in the range of 28 Psi to 33 Pssi. However, each type of car has different pressure recommendations. For example, the ideal tire pressure for a Multi Purpose Vehicle (MPV) is often at the level of 30-32 Psi. Meanwhile, sedan model vehicles require tire pressure to always be at 28-30 Psi.
However, this value is not an absolute measure. Each car has its own standards which are adapted to the specifications of each vehicle. Apart from that, the front tires and rear tires can also have different pressures.
To find out the recommended tire pressure, car drivers can look at the car manual. Apart from that, usually the numbers are stuck on the sides of the car door. Vehicle owners can look for it to find out the correct tire pressure.
It is very important to know the tire pressure according to recommendations so that tire performance is always optimal. If the pressure is excessive, the impact is not good. Likewise, when the pressure is less.
When the tire pressure exceeds the recommended tire pressure, the tire may experience wear in the center. If you hit a hole or other hard object, the tire is prone to bursting, which is very dangerous.
Excessive tire pressure also has an impact on car control when driving. The car feels like it's floating. Thus, the car will be difficult to control. Again, this is dangerous for travel safety.
It's different when the car's tire pressure is less than the recommended level. Tires will not be able to tread evenly on all sides on the road surface.
As a result, the tires experience greater friction.
If that happens, the tires heat up more easily. However, what is more dangerous is that the risk of having a tire explode will increase.
Not only that, the rim can also be damaged when the tire hits a hard object or a pothole. Insufficient pressure means the tire cannot withstand impacts optimally.
In the long term, tires will not last long. If the tire pressure is less than the recommendation, the side of the tire tread will wear out. This is because the middle area is curved, while the left and right parts will be closer to the road surface. That accelerates wear and tear.
For this reason, it is very important to always check the tire pressure so that it meets the recommendations. Vehicle owners can do this regularly at least once a month. Usually, when it has been used for a month, the tire pressure will decrease by at least 1 Psi.
Use a tire pressure gauge to check. However, if you want to be practical, many workshops provide checking services as well as adding or reducing tire pressure. Do this immediately so that your car tires last longer and driving safety is always maintained.
