What does it mean if your car indicator light keeps coming on?
When starting the car engine, various indicator lights on the dashboard behind the steering wheel area will usually come on and turn off again a few moments later. However, if there is a car indicator light that continues to come on, there is most likely a problem with the condition of the Drivemate car.
Well, car indicator codes are quite diverse. Each code provides different information, you know! Does Drivemate know what the car indicator codes mean? If not, find out through the following explanation, let's go!
Check engine indicator light
First, there is a check engine indicator light which has an engine symbol with the words “check” in the middle of the image. If this car indicator code lights up, it means there is a problem with the Drivemate car engine. When the check engine indicator lights up, what Drivemate has to do is immediately check the engine. To be more accurate, take the car to a repair shop for a more thorough inspection.
Battery indicator
Next, there is a battery indicator code which depicts plus and minus signs at different poles. If this car indicator light comes on, it means there is a problem with the car battery, car cables, or the electric current system. If this happens, you should immediately check the Drivemate car battery.
Engine oil pressure indicator
When the engine oil pressure indicator light comes on, it means that the Drivemate car is low on oil or there is a problem with lubrication. The car indicator code for engine oil pressure is represented by the symbol of a jug that releases fluid. Immediately check your Drivemate car oil and refill the oil if it is running low.
Engine temperature indicator
If there is an indicator with a thermometer symbol that looks like a key, then that is the car indicator code for engine temperature. When the light is on, it means that the Drivemate car is emitting an overheat signal or the car engine is too hot. Immediately turn off the engine and check the cause of overheating because if left untreated, the car engine will stop completely.
Brake fluid indicator
The brake fluid indicator is symbolized by an exclamation mark inside a circle. If the car's indicator light comes on, there are three possible causes, namely the active parking brake position, low brake fluid, and an imbalance in hydraulic pressure on the brakes. One action that Drivemate can take immediately is to add brake fluid of the same type at the nearest repair shop.
Wiper water indicator
The car indicator code for wiper water is symbolized by the symbol of a wiper that is spraying water. When the indicator lights up, it means the water is almost gone and needs to be filled. Therefore, immediately refill the water for the wiper in the reservoir tube. If it's still on, it means there's a problem with the car's indicator light system.
Parking brake indicator
The parking brake indicator is symbolized by a large P in a circle. If the light is on, it means the Drivemate's hand brake has not been released. Before using the car, make sure that the indicator light is on so that it doesn't overheat and emit smoke. However, if the indicator light is still on, immediately take it to a repair shop for further inspection.
Fuel indicator
With this one indicator, Drivemate definitely knows what to do, right? If the indicator with the fuel station symbol lights up, it means that the Drivemate car has only one-eighth of petrol left. Immediately refill your car at the nearest gas station. Avoid delaying filling up with petrol because it will only be a hassle later.
Seat belt indicator
If Drivemate is not wearing a seat belt or seat belt, this indicator will light up and make a loud sound if your speed is above 20 km/hour. The seat belt indicator functions to warn the driver to wear his seat belt. Therefore, what Drivemate has to do when this indicator lights up is to immediately buckle up for safe driving.
Airbag indicator
Airbags are a safety feature embedded in every car to prevent the risk of collision with the driver. This feature is symbolized by a car indicator code with a passenger symbol and a large, inflated balloon. If the indicator light on this car is on, it is a sign that the airbag is active to prevent the risk of collision. If it stays on when not active, then there is a possibility of a problem with the sprint clock cable.
ABS indicator
The ABS indicator is denoted by the “ABS” big inside the circle which indicates that there is an automatic check on the car system. This indicator will turn off by itself after the process is complete. If it continues to light, it means there is a problem with the system or damage to the cable near the wheel. What Drivemate can do when something like this happens is to clean the car's throttle body or take it to the nearest repair shop.
Those are some of the meanings of car indicator lights turning on. Cars generally have many indicator codes that drivers must understand. So, when one of the car indicator codes comes on, Drivemate can immediately know the cause and what to do next.
By understanding all the meanings of indicator codes, it means that Drivemate is already adept at driving wisely. Remember, the indicator light turning on can sometimes also be caused by other things. Therefore, don't forget to regularly take your car to the repair shop for further inspection, OK!
