Beware that there is water in the fuel tank
Like other car components, the fuel tank still needs special attention. Carrying out maintenance is actually not that complicated. Just fill it more often so that there is no water in the fuel tank.
A fuel tank that is often empty has the potential to trigger various types of damage. Rust can appear so that the fuel tank made of iron will leak. Apart from that, the fuel pump can also be damaged due to the presence of water content. If that's the case, the car is prone to breaking down.
Corrosion that damages fuel tanks comes from the water in them. Water appears as a result of the condensation process that occurs because the fuel tank is empty.
If it is rusty, the fuel tank is prone to leaking. If you experience this, like it or not, you have to have it patched or replaced if it cannot be repaired. It's troublesome, isn't it?
Not only that, over time more and more water in the empty tank space can also disrupt the fuel combustion system. If the fuel is mixed with water, combustion efficiency is reduced. This can have a negative impact on vehicle performance. Acceleration will decrease and fuel consumption will tend to increase.
If there is too much water, the car engine can also die. Water in the fuel tank seeps in, preventing combustion from occurring in the engine. In fact, the presence of water can ultimately trigger corrosion.
If the fuel tank is rusty, dirt will appear. It's very dangerous if that happens. This dirt can contaminate the engine, causing damage.
To avoid this, fill up with full fuel often. This will minimize the possibility of water in the fuel tank. In the end, condensation will not occur and the fuel tank will be free from corrosion.
Apart from that, try to occasionally check the condition of the fuel tank. Look to see if there is rust or not. If it is found, it means that there was water there. This is worth watching out for.
Then, also pay attention to the car exhaust. If too much smoke comes out there could be water in the fuel tank. The water should immediately evaporate when combustion occurs. There is almost no exhaust smoke and even if it does appear, it is only a small amount.
Decreased vehicle performance can also be an indication of the presence of water in the fuel tank. This is because the combustion process is inefficient, which affects engine performance.
HOW TO REPAIR
If this happens, like it or not, treatment must be carried out. The fuel tank and fuel pump will be cleaned. The way to do this is by draining the fuel inside until it is clean. Later, the fuel tank will be dismantled first for maximum cleaning. Rust and dirt that accumulates at the bottom of the tank can be removed.
The same maintenance will be carried out on the fuel pump. Usually inside the fuel pump there is a fuel reservoir and filter. It could be that there is water remaining in the fuel filter that needs to be cleaned.
However, if the fuel tank is not rusty and there is only a little water, adding fuel conditioner could be a maintenance option. Fuel conditioner is able to remove water in the fuel tank.
Pour into the fuel tank. Wait a moment. The water will eventually disappear. The engine combustion process will be optimal again without being disturbed by the water mixture in the fuel tank. The car's performance has improved again.
