This is How to Warm Up a Car the Right Way
The recent restrictions on social activities have drastically reduced mobility. As a result, cars that are usually used for daily activities have to be parked at home. If that's the case, the car still needs attention. If you leave it in the garage for too long, the car can actually get damaged. A number of components are prone to disruption. The most common problems that arise are problems with the battery becoming weak and tires being damaged due to flat.
To avoid experiencing this problem, the car must be consistently warmed up. This aims to ensure that the car is maintained in good condition.
Heating the car will keep the battery supplied with electricity so it won't “soak”. When the car engine is on, electrical power is channeled to the alternator which allows the battery to be recharged.
Apart from that, heating the car will keep the oil in the engine circulating to lubricate the components in the car. Then, heating the car will also prevent dirt deposits from thickening in the oil pan because the car is rarely used.
For this reason, it is recommended to warm up the car frequently. Do it at least once a week. However, it is better if you do it every day or every other day.
If you want to do it regularly every day or two, you can warm up your car in just 5 minutes. This time period is considered sufficient to make the engine rotation stable. At that time, the car engine had actually reached optimal heat and was ready to run.
However, longer heating time is required if it is only heated once a week. At least warm up the car for about 15 minutes.
Don't be afraid of overheating. Because, today's cars already have thermostats that activate the radiator automatically. When the heat of the car engine is felt to have exceeded tolerance, the radiator fan will activate to provide air supply to the radiator.
Not only that, modern cars have heat indicators on the dashboard. If the heat is excessive, a warning will appear so the car can be turned off again.
This method is enough to maintain the performance of the car. However, static heating of the car engine in real places is not optimal. Many other car components do not receive maintenance.
DRIVE USE
The most important thing is the transmission and brakes. Because the car is just standing still, transmission oil circulation which lubricates the components in the gearbox does not occur. This process can only be optimal if the engine speed is in the engaged position or ready to move into gear so that the transmission oil pump is active.
When the car is just static, the transmission oil does not circulate upwards. When the clutch gear or the engaged components are not lubricated, they will rub and could be damaged.
Meanwhile, braking system problems can occur because the brake lining is always attached to the disc. Then, the surface of the drum drum will also continue to be in the same position. Everything can happen because the car is only in a stationary position.
Over time the brakes can stick to the disc. In addition, the oxidation process can trigger rust between the brake lining and the disc or drum.
To avoid this, it is highly recommended to use a car occasionally. At least once a week the car must be used for driving. It doesn't take long, 15 minutes of driving time is enough to maintain the car components.
Therefore, to keep your car in top condition even if it has been parked for a long time, warm up the engine for at least five minutes every day. Then, once a week, use it to drive for at least 15 minutes. The condition of the car is guaranteed to remain good.
