Pay attention to signs that your car tires need to be replaced
As a vital vehicle component, the car owner must pay attention to the condition of the tires. Don't force tires that are in bad condition to be used. For this reason, know the signs that tires need to be replaced.
Tires are a component that supports the safety and comfort of driving a car. Without quality tires, driving safety is at stake. Apart from that, a car with bad tires will definitely not be comfortable to drive.
Therefore, tire conditions must always be optimal. In order to do this, make sure the condition of the tires does not deteriorate. Even if it has deteriorated, the tire can be replaced with a new one. So what are the signs that car tires need to be replaced? These are the general characteristics.
Tire Treads Starting to Thin
The tread or outer surface of the tire is not just an accessory. This pattern, which is often called a flare, has a special purpose to help maintain the tire's grip on the road surface. Apart from that, its unique design is useful for disposing of water on the road.
Therefore, make sure the tread is in good condition so that the tires can be optimal. When the tire pattern or tread starts to wear thin, the tire needs to be replaced. Don't wait until the tread is completely bare because it will be dangerous.
If you have a tread depth gauge or depth vernier caliper, use it to measure the tire tread depth. If it reaches 1.6 mm, then the tire must be replaced because the tread is thinning.
TWI is in sight
The condition of the tire or tread surface will really determine the performance of a tire. If it is still good, it is certain that the tire still provides optimal performance. The opposite happens when the tread thins.
The condition of the tread can be measured with a tool that determines its depth. However, tire manufacturers have actually made it easier for car owners by providing a Tread Wear Indicator (TWI). This is a means to help see the condition of the tires easily.
In the form of a triangular symbol located at the bottom limit of the tire tread and the rubber protrusion between the treads, TWI is an indicator of tire condition. If the TWI is visible or has been eroded, then the tire must be replaced as soon as possible. Because, that means the condition of the tread has become thinner.
There is a Crack in the Tire
Assessing the condition of tires is not just by looking at the surface of the tire. Other tire parts also need to be looked at. Specifically look for cracks in the tires.
A cracked tire indicates that the tire rubber is brittle. This is very dangerous. Because tires are prone to breaking when used. The consequences are very fatal if you experience it in the middle of the road.
Therefore, observe the condition of the tires. Focus on the side of the tire because cracks usually appear there. If there are already cracks, the tires need to be replaced as soon as possible because their condition has deteriorated.
There's a Lump on the Tire
The condition of a tire that is deteriorating and needs to be replaced can also be seen from the presence of lumps on the tire. If there is a lump in the tire, then the tire is damaged. Needs to be replaced immediately.
Bumps are often found on the side of the tire. The causes vary from impact, road conditions, excessive tire pressure, to chemical droplets. This condition indicates that the tire has been damaged.
A lumpy tire means the tire's strength is weakened. This could be fatal. Tires are prone to bursting when used. Therefore, it is best to replace the tires immediately when a lump is found on the surface.
That's a sign that a tire needs to be replaced. If you want to replace it, choose quality tires from Dunlop. Made with high technology, Dunlop tires guarantee that the tires always show the best performance.
