Here are 6 ways to get rid of sleepiness when driving during the fasting month!
When fasting, Drivemate often feels sleepy. If you are at home, of course this will not be a problem. Well, this only becomes a problem if Drivemate is sleepy while driving the car. To make driving safer, here's how to get rid of sleepiness while driving during the fasting month.
6 Ways to Get Rid of Drowsiness While Driving
There are many ways to get rid of sleepiness when Drivemate is driving a car during the fasting month. These methods can be done before, or while on a long trip in the afternoon or evening. Here are some ways:
1. Get enough rest
First, make sure that Drivemate has enough rest before traveling during the day. Moreover, if the trip you are making is an intercity trip that takes a long time.
Don't let Drivemates lose sleep because they stay up late until dawn, then during the day force themselves to drive. If possible, find another driver or use available public transportation to make your trip safer. There's also no harm in ordering a taxi or motorbike taxi online if the destination is not too far from where you live.
2. Play fast rhythmic music
If your Drivemate has had enough rest but is still sleepy, try playing your favorite fast-paced music. Whether it's EDM music, rock, or even dangdut music. Don't forget to look for songs that Drivemate knows by heart so you can sing along to the tunes of the radio.
But, don't play it too loud when you tune the radio! It could be that Drivemate becomes less concentrated on the road and doesn't hear horns from other vehicles. This music is played just to ensure that the Drivemate stays awake for the rest of the journey.
3. Avoid consuming caffeine at dawn
For some people, drinking coffee at dawn has become an obligation so they can have a fresh morning. In fact, drinking coffee or other caffeine at dawn doesn't always have a good impact, you know! One of the side effects of drinking coffee at dawn is a caffeine crash during the day. What is it?
Caffeine crash is a condition when the energy produced from drinking caffeine begins to disappear. The body, which was fresh a few minutes after drinking coffee, will become weak, causing drowsiness. Generally, a caffeine crash occurs around 3-5 hours after Drivemate drinks coffee. If Drivemate plans to go on a long trip around 3 to 5 hours after sahur, it is recommended not to drink coffee to prevent this phenomenon.
4. Do some light stretching
Sometimes, drowsiness can appear when the body feels sore. For example, when we have to stay in the car for a long time because of a long journey or the roads are really congested. Therefore, Drivemates are obliged to occasionally do light stretching when driving a car.
If there is an opportunity to pull over, for example to a minimarket, Drivemate can pull over to get out of the car and stretch. By moving actively, Drivemate also keeps the mind awake.
5. Pull over for a short break
If Drivemate still feels sleepy after stretching, the next way to get rid of sleepiness is to take a short break in a safe place. Don't let Drivemate keep forcing you to travel even though you can't concentrate.
If necessary, Drivemate can also try the power nap method. This term refers to taking a short nap for 15-20 minutes to restore lost energy. This solution only works temporarily because what Drivemate really needs is rest. But, this is more than enough to help Drivemate reach its destination safely.
6. Talk to other passengers
The last way to get rid of sleepiness is to talk to other passengers. Tell them to engage you in conversation to prevent drowsiness from coming on. Don't forget, Drivemate still needs to concentrate while driving while chatting with other passengers. Don't let Drivemate not pay attention to the road because you are chatting with friends or family.
Those are six tips on how to get rid of sleepiness that can help Drivemates when driving during the fasting month. If you can't stop feeling sleepy, don't force yourself to drive! Always prioritize safety when driving because this can not only harm Drivemates, but also the people around you.
