These are the triggers for a burst tire that you must be aware of
Tires are a vital component that supports driving safety. Just imagine if a tire experiences a problem such as breaking suddenly. The risk of having an accident will be very large. To avoid experiencing this, be aware of the triggers for tire bursts.
Not a few accidents are triggered by burst tires. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, every year there are at least 23 thousand accidents caused by burst tires. Of that number, 500 of them were fatal accidents.
The data shows that tire bursts should not be taken lightly. Drivers must ensure that the tires are always in optimal condition. Using quality tires such as those produced by Dunlop is also another way to anticipate.
However, to minimize the risk of a tire bursting, the driver must know a number of factors that trigger it. Some of them are often unexpected. Here are some of them.
HOLE IN THE ROAD
Don't underestimate the presence of holes on the road because they can cause tires to burst. Moreover, if it is traveled at high speed, it can cause heavy impacts.
It should be noted that tires also play a role in reducing pressure when they collide with the road surface. Tires will help the suspension to withstand pressure. However, tires are prone to bursting when they encounter excessive pressure.
You should be aware that holes in the road put a lot of pressure on the tires. If it passes at high speed, the pressure will be extraordinary. This is what can cause the steel wire in the tire to break. As a result, the tire could burst.
Therefore, reduce speed when passing through holes. Drive the car slowly so that the tires don't burst.
BAD TIRE PATCHES
Bad tire patches can also cause tire bursts. Many don't realize it and think everything is fine. In fact, patching tires, especially tubeless tires which are patched by widening the hole in the punctured tire, can cause the steel wire inside the tire to break.
The risk exists when tires are patched using a tubeless patch or string technique. If the filling is bad, then over a long period of time dirt and water can enter. Over time, this can trigger corrosion in the tires. This ultimately makes the steel wire of the tire vulnerable to breaking, causing the tire to burst.
INCORRECT TIRE PRESSURE
Never underestimate tire pressure. Tires must always have the recommended pressure. Because incorrect pressure often causes tires to burst on the road
Insufficient tire pressure is very dangerous. This has the potential to cause the tire to burst. The reason is, the tire walls are not too tense. In fact, the tire walls are always moving. When the tire pressure is low, the steel wire breaks easily. When this happens, the risk of the tire bursting on the road is very large.
It's different if the tire pressure is too high. The most felt is the discomfort of driving. The potential for a tire to burst is not as big as low tire pressure. Because, when the pressure inside is excessive, the tire will be in a tense position making it difficult for it to break. Apart from that, the tire walls are also able to withstand excess pressure of up to 10 psi.
Even so, it is recommended to fill the tire pressure according to recommendations. The driver can see it on the car to know the right pressure.
GRABBLES IN TIRE
It turns out that the presence of gravel or dirt between the tires should never be underestimated. If left unchecked, this can increase the risk of tire rupture.
Why is it like that? Stones or gravel can scratch the tread or tire tread. If that happens, gradually water and dirt can enter the tire. This can later trigger corrosion. Ultimately, corrosion can cause the steel fibers in the tire to break easily. If that happens, the tires can burst when driving on the road.
For this reason, immediately clean the gravel or stones between the tire treads. Apart from minimizing the risk of tire rupture, dirt in between the tires can interfere with the function of the tire. Tires can't drain water through their treads because there are objects there. As a result, the tire's ability to grip the road surface is not optimal.
There are a number of triggers for tire bursts that you should be aware of. Drivers are advised to pay attention. However, for optimal tire safety, make sure to use quality tires from Dunlop. Dunlop tires are known to be of high quality and have high durability so they don't break easily.
