Brake boosters are found in almost all types of modern vehicles. This system is very useful for making it easier for the driver when pressing the brake pedal. With these additional components, the stepping energy can be doubled, making braking easier.

Without a brake booster, when you step on it, the brake pedal will feel heavy. As an illustration, just feel the brake pedal when the car is stopped. Under these conditions, the system does not work. This technology emerged when cars used discs for braking. The brake booster system works differently in petrol cars and diesel engines. In petrol cars, this device works with  utilizing vacuum from the intake manifold.

Meanwhile, because in a diesel engine the vacuum from the engine is not strong enough, the brake booster uses a separate vacuum pump component. Even though there are different ways of using vacuum, they still have similarities. When the brake is applied, the pressure rod crosses the booster while providing additional power. After that, the rod enters the master cylinder which activates piston movement.

From there there is a push from the piston which presses the fluid in the brake system to order the lipper near the wheel to start braking. Thanks to that, braking is easier to achieve. The brake pedal will feel light when pressed. This way, the driver can adjust the braking level more easily.

Driving safety is more guaranteed. Imagine if there was no brake booster. The brake pedal will be heavy. This will certainly be very disturbing when sudden braking or maximum braking level is required.

Brake pedal hardness can make this impossible. Of course that could have fatal consequences for the vehicle.

DAMAGE INDICATION

Because it is vital for driving safety, make sure the brake booster is in top condition. Don't let it get damaged so it can't be used optimally. For this reason, drivers are expected to be able to detect symptoms of damage.

There are several things that could be an indication of damage. The easiest way is to feel the level of brake hardness when you step on it. If it feels hard, there could be a damaged part. Don't take it lightly because it could trigger the brakes to fail.

Then the hissing sound that appears when the car's brake pedal is pressed is also a sign of a problem. Usually this damage is triggered by a leak in the vacuum hose. An engine that has difficulty idling can also be a sign of other damage. This is because in the brake booster device there is a hose that is connected to the car engine's intake manifold to obtain vacuum. If it leaks, the intake manifold also has a leak, making it difficult for the engine to idle.

Pay attention to all these symptoms when driving. If you don't feel it, it means the brake booster is in optimal condition. In this way, safety will be more guaranteed because the braking system is working properly.
