Car Components that Need to Be Checked Before the Rainy Season

The rainy season has now arrived. Vehicle owners should start preparing to check a number of components. This is important as an anticipation so that the trip remains smooth and safe.

The presence of the rainy season often triggers various problems in the car. Many cars break down because various components related to electricity and ignition are damaged.

In order not to feel it, it's better to anticipate. This is done by checking components that are prone to disruption during the rainy season. The following components are recommended to check:

Electrical System

In the rainy season, the car's electrical system needs extra attention. The presence of water can cause a short circuit so an inspection needs to be carried out.

The first check can be done on the car battery. See if there is any wear there. This is vital because the battery is a source of electricity to start the car and supports various devices such as AC, audio system and horn.

Similar checks can also be carried out on electrical cables. See if there is any possibility of damage. If you find it, replace it immediately because the electrical cable can be a source of car trouble during the rainy season.

Ignition System

The ignition system also needs special inspection during the rainy season. Checking can be done on the spark plug which acts as a fire starter in the vehicle.

Look at the condition of the spark plug, from the cable to the condition of the components. If there is wear, it is recommended to replace it immediately because it is feared that it will make ignition difficult. In cold or wet conditions, a spark plug that has degraded will find it difficult to ignite the flame needed for combustion.

Apart from that, pay attention to the condition of the spark plug wires. If it is hard, leaking, or looks brittle, it is better to replace it immediately. The same thing also needs to be done to other components such as the spark plug cover and coil

Alternator

More attention also needs to be paid to the alternator which functions as a power source. This device charges electric current into the battery when the electricity is sucked in by all car equipment that uses electric current.

Because of its vital role, checking the alternator must be done carefully. If necessary, take it to a repair shop that has equipment to detect its condition. This will make the condition of the alternator clearly visible. 

Checking is important because the alternator plays a crucial role in the car's electricity. If this component has a problem, the electric current is disrupted. Cars are also prone to breaking down.

Wipers

Wipers are one of the car components that must be checked. In the rainy season, the wiper function will become even more vital. 

Wipers are useful for removing water from the surface of the car window. If it is damaged or in poor condition, the water drainage process will not be optimal. It's very dangerous if this happens. The driver's view cannot be clear and bright.

Therefore, look at the condition of the wipers. Test first whether it works well or not. Then check the condition of the rubber. If it is worn out, it is better to replace it.

Also try to look at the channel that sprays the liquid onto the wiper. Check whether it functions normally and the quantity is still sufficient. This liquid will be useful to help the wipers clean the car window.

Braking System and Tires

Also check the braking system and tire condition. During the rainy season, road conditions tend to be slippery. Water on the road surface makes the tires work harder. Tires must remove water first so they can get maximum traction.

Therefore, tires must be in prime condition. Check the tire tread and grooves. Make sure it's still good. If the tires are running low, it is better to replace them for the safety and comfort of the car.

Also try checking the car brakes. Do braking as a test. If you feel it is not working properly, immediately go to a repair shop for repairs. Remember, during the rainy season, the roads are more slippery so the brakes must be competent.

Air Filter

This is a component that also needs to be checked during the rainy season. Air filters have a vital role in the combustion system. Its presence is useful for filtering dirt so that adequate air enters the engine's combustion chamber. 

If the amount compared to the fuel mist is not ideal, then the combustion process is not perfect. The engine feels powerless. In fact, the car can break down. 

In the rainy season, the air tends to be mixed with dew or water. This condition forces the air filter to work harder. Therefore, the air filter must be in prime condition. 

Check a number of components shown. Your trip will be more comfortable because the vehicle condition is optimal.
