Do this to ensure car emissions are always good
Emissions should be a concern for car owners. Car exhaust gas that meets standards will support clean air. Therefore, it is very important to understand how to ensure vehicle emissions are within safe limits.
Recently, car emissions have become a concern for many parties. From the DKI Jakarta Government for example. Through DKI Jakarta Governor Regulation Number 66 of 2020, they are even ready to impose sanctions if car emissions are found to exceed the threshold. It was stated that emission fines would be implemented from January 24 2021.
This fact should be addressed properly by car owners in order to maintain their vehicle's emissions. Not only to escape sanctions, but also for a better environment.
So, it is necessary to understand how to maintain good car emissions. Here are some steps.
Have regular servicing
Routinely carrying out vehicle servicing on a regular basis is very helpful in maintaining good emissions. Routine maintenance through service can detect components that are damaged or not functioning optimally. Repair or replacement action can be taken when component damage is discovered.
If all car components are in prime condition, then performance will definitely be optimal. This affects general engine performance. Combustion in the engine will be maximum.
This is where there is a connection with good emissions. If the engine performance is generally good, the emission level will be lower.
For this reason, it is recommended that you carry out maintenance on the fuel inlet and air filter every time you service it. Clean well. The reason is, if the conditions are dirty, air flow into the engine room will be hampered. This will make the hydrocarbon numbers increase due to insufficient air supply.
Not only that, also pay attention to the condition of the catalytic converter in the car exhaust. This is a component whose job is to convert toxic exhaust emissions into clean air. Make sure it is in prime condition so that the car's emissions meet standards.
Change the oil on time
Engine oil turns out to have a big influence on emission levels. So, it is recommended to change the oil regularly according to its service life. Don't let dirty oil still be used.
Oil in a car engine is useful as a lubricant. Oil that keeps the components in the engine well lubricated. Friction between components which can trigger damage can also be minimized through the use of oil.
However, with use, the condition of the oil will decrease. Therefore, changes need to be made. If not, the combustion process will not be perfect.
This has an effect on emissions. If the combustion is less than optimal, the exhaust gas produced by the engine will also be bad.
There are recommendations for oil change times according to the type of oil. You can see from the type of oil used. However, usually replacement can be done routinely every 10 thousand kilometers.
Apart from that, make sure to use oil according to the car's standards. This is necessary to ensure the quality of the oil is sufficient to carry out the lubrication process properly.
Use Fuel According to Recommendations
It turns out that fuel can also determine a car's emission level. If the fuel used does not match the car's compression, exhaust emissions are prone to worsening.
You should know that car engines are designed to use certain fuels. The benchmark is the car's compression. Each engine compression level requires a suitable type of fuel.
So, so that emissions meet standards, make sure to use fuel that matches the engine compression. Otherwise, carbon scale in the combustion chamber that appears from the combustion process will accumulate. This is what can worsen emission levels.
For example, using low octane fuel in a car engine with a high compression level. This will cause detonation symptoms to occur. The fuel “explodes” first before compressing.
Continuous detonation will eventually leave fuel that is not completely compressed. As a result, the remaining fuel becomes carbon crust.
When the carbon crust is removed to the outside, the number of susceptible hydrocarbons increases. As a result, the car will not pass the emissions test if the increase exceeds the threshold.
Do these three things to ensure your car's emissions are always good. Not only will you pass the emissions test, you will also play a big role in maintaining good air quality.
