Drive According to Your Taste With Driving Mode
Many modern cars are equipped with driving modes. This feature makes it very easy for drivers because they can choose the driving mode according to their tastes and needs.
Driving mode is actually nothing new. Its use has been around for a long time. It is believed that the initial user was a British car manufacturer for his SUV. Its presence is intended to make driving easier.
In the end, driving modes continue to evolve. Initially only luxury cars used it. However, recently, driving modes have also been added to various other types of cars.
What Actually is Driving Mode?
Driving mode is a feature that gives the driver the opportunity to choose how to drive while changing driving preferences according to taste and needs. This technology allows changing vehicle settings according to the type of driving mode selected. However, the difference depends on various things such as the vehicle brand and type of driving mode.
However, in general, driving modes occur when interventions on various aspects of the vehicle occur. Usually there will be settings for the gas or brake pedal lever, the amount of fuel used, the suspension, and the traction provided. These things are adjusted to present one type of driving mode.
As a result, if one vehicle has several driving modes, the driving sensation can be different. One driving mode will provide a “unique feel” compared to others.
A car's ability to provide driving modes cannot be separated from the existence of Electronic Control Unit (ECU) technology. This is a system that controls various things in the car such as the engine transmission, suspension, braking, and even the steering wheel.
Thanks to the ECU, driving modes can be presented. The ECU can adjust certain settings to present one driving mode. Then, other settings are presented for different types.
Various Types of Driving Modes
Driving modes are deliberately presented to give drivers the choice to drive according to their tastes and needs. Therefore, there are various options that can be used for various purposes.
However, each brand and type of vehicle has different driving modes. However, in general there are several types that are often presented. Here is the list.
â— Sports Mode
This is a driving mode that makes the car more engaging and fun to drive. Usually this mode is suitable for use when in a circuit.
However, the intensity of sports mode really depends on the vehicle model. However, in general, the pedal lever will be more responsive so that the car can accelerate quickly.
In addition, in this driving mode the fuel supply to the engine is also increased to provide great power. It is not uncommon for the suspension to be stiffened and the steering wheel to be heavier. This will make the driving sensation even more enjoyable.
â— Eco Mode
Driving mode specifically designed to reduce fuel consumption. The goal is to make energy use in cars more efficient. Usually this is achieved by reducing the fuel supply to the engine.
In addition, the pedal lever is also adjusted so that the response is reduced. In fact, often the engine cylinder is also disabled. This will indeed make fuel consumption more economical. However, the car will drive heavier than usual.
â— Comfort Mode
A driving mode that provides extra comfort for the vehicle. This mode is often used for daily driving or long journeys. Because the car will feel comfortable.
Most suspensions are set as soft as possible so that they feel soft when hit by shocks. Then, the steering wheel is made light to make maneuvering easier. Apart from that, gear shifting is arranged in such a way that it is smooth.
â— Individual/Custom Mode
A driving mode that gives the driver the opportunity to make their own settings. The driver can adjust various things to provide the sensation and way of driving he wants.
However, the settings are limited to certain aspects only. This is necessary so that the safety of the car remains guaranteed.
Activate driving mode immediately if you want to enjoy a different driving sensation than usual. Look for the existing activation button or lever. Usually its position is always located around the driver's seat to make selection easier.
