Causes of Car Engine Overheating that You Need to Know
No one wants to experience a car that overheats. When that happens, the car can break down, which can be a hassle. Therefore, know some of the causes so you can anticipate them.
Engine overheating is characterized by very high engine temperatures. When this problem is experienced, the engine can lose power. In fact, it's not uncommon for a tickling sound to be heard.
Indications of engine overheating can also be seen directly from the engine heat indicator. There you will see that the indicator mark points to a part that shows excessive heat in the engine.
The impact of an overheating engine can be dangerous. The car engine can die because some of the vehicle's engine components are not functioning. Examples are a locked piston or a valve that is bent due to expansion.
To avoid experiencing this, understand a number of causes of engine overheating. This is useful for taking anticipatory steps so that this does not happen. Here are some of the causes.
Radiator Water Out
The radiator is the main part of the water cooling system in a car engine. The radiator's job is to cool the water coolant. Therefore, radiators need to be maintained properly.
When the radiator water runs out or decreases, engine cooling is not optimal. The engine temperature will immediately rise resulting in an engine overheating condition. Therefore, make sure the radiator water is always at a normal level.
However, sometimes the radiator water will decrease or run out. This can occur due to evaporation triggered by hot water temperatures or leaks in the radiator circulation system can also trigger it. This needs to be detected so that it doesn't happen.
Fan Motor Dead
To cool the radiator, a fan is also used to circulate air. When the fan engine dies, the consequences are fatal. The radiator cannot be cooled so the engine heats up excessively. This is what is known as engine overheat.
When this condition occurs, the coolant cannot cool the engine. As a result, the engine temperature is always high. In the end, the temperature in the combustion chamber becomes so hot that the engine overheats.
To avoid this, check the condition of the fan motor. When it gets worse, there's no harm in replacing it with a new one.
Leaking Radiator
Engine overheating can also be caused by a leaking radiator. This condition can lead to a shortage of coolant in the radiator. If that happens, the engine temperature will not be able to be cooled optimally. Over time the engine can overheat.
Radiator leaks can occur due to corrosion of the radiator grille. This is because there is oxygen in the radiator. When it comes into contact with metal, oxygen produces a chemical reaction that causes corrosion.
Broken Thermostat
The thermostat is a component that measures the temperature in a car engine. This component is very vital for detecting heat in the engine. If it is damaged and cannot measure correctly, the car engine can overheat.
Without a thermostat, the engine temperature continues to rise and cannot be detected. The result is too much heat. This can ultimately trigger damage to other components in the car.
Therefore, check the condition of the thermostat regularly. Make sure it always functions optimally.
Water Pump Problems
When the water pump in the engine has a problem, overheating can occur. This is possible because the water pump is useful for maintaining circulation in the machine.
The water pump functions to pump the water in the machine, so that continuous circulation occurs. If this component is damaged, a leak could occur. In the end, the car engine will overheat.
This is the cause of car engines overheating that must be anticipated. However, to support car safety and comfort, quality tires are no less important. Use quality tires from Dunlop. Dunlop tires guarantee that tire performance will always be excellent.
