Pay attention to the maximum load of your vehicle before going home
Travelling to return to your hometown during Idul Fitri is called going home. This activity has become a tradition that has taken root in various parts of the world, including Indonesia.
So, when Drivemate decides to go home for Eid using a private vehicle, there is one thing you must pay attention to, namely the maximum load of the vehicle. Indeed, how do you calculate this burden and what are the impacts if it exceeds the provisions? Find out more information below!
Going home for Eid by private vehicle
The Eid homecoming can be achieved in various ways. Drivemates can use public transportation such as trains, buses or planes to get to their destination. By taking public transportation, you also don't need to worry about the travel route or the stamina to drive.
Even though there are many benefits you can get from using public transportation, not a few people choose to go home for Eid by private vehicle. The reasons are usually related to time flexibility and accommodation when arriving in your hometown. However, that doesn't mean going home by private vehicle has no drawbacks.
Going home with your own vehicle is more flexible. However, Drivemate also has to prepare more stamina to drive long distances. Not to mention, there are travel routes that must be studied, solutions if the car has problems, and knowing things about the vehicle (such as its maximum load).
How do you calculate the carrying capacity of a car?
Knowing the car's carrying capacity is an important part before going home for Eid, Drivemate. Because, quite a few people ignore this and end up in accidents or risk other losses due to vehicle deformation. So, what is the maximum load of a car and how is it calculated?
Let's take the example of the Toyota Kijang Innova car, whose maximum overall load is 2,130 kg. To find out the carrying capacity, subtract the maximum load from the empty weight of the vehicle, which is 1,525 kg. So, you will get a result of 650 kg. That is the carrying capacity of the car including the weight of passengers.
This means, make sure you go home with a passenger capacity according to the number of seats in the vehicle and bring enough belongings, OK? If you want to add cargo to the top of the car, make sure the weight does not exceed 75 kg. Or contact your vehicle dealer for more accurate information to avoid the risk of the car experiencing deformation (dents).
Danger of Exceeding Maximum Vehicle Load
At this point, Drivemate already understands that carrying excessive loads when returning home for Eid is not permitted. Indeed, what risks or dangers could befall a driver if they carried more weight when going home by car? Here are three of them!
1. Fuel will be more wasteful
The first risk that Drivemate will experience if they are forced to carry excess load when returning home for Eid is that fuel will be more wasteful. Because, when your luggage exceeds the maximum capacity, the machine's work will automatically become heavier. This will then make your gas run out faster. In the end, your homecoming budget will swell in terms of transportation.
2. Got a police ticket
Carrying more than the vehicle's capacity also risks getting a police ticket, you know. You definitely know that the authorities will be taking a lot of precautions as Idul Fitri approaches.
Well, be careful of getting a ticket, especially if the excessive load in question is in terms of the number of passengers. This is because carrying passengers who exceed the maximum limit is usually identified more quickly.
3. Car undercarriages wear out faster
Apart from the dangers above, carrying a load above the car's capacity will also cause the tires to wear out easily. Not to mention, car rims are also at risk of being damaged more quickly, especially if used in the long term.
The understeel part of a car is also an inevitable component. Excessive loads can certainly have a bad impact on this part, for example making it prone to breaking and so on.
After reading the explanation above, Drivemate now understands, right, that carrying a load exceeding the car's capacity is not recommended and could be dangerous? For this reason, it's best to bring the necessary items when you go home for Eid. Always prioritize safety and comfort while driving so you can reach your destination safely. Happy homecoming, Drivemate!
