A selection of tires that are compatible and suitable for electric cars

Tires are one of the vital components in electric cars which often receive less attention than other components such as batteries and electric motors. However, the role of tires in the performance and efficiency of electric cars should not be underestimated. The right tires can increase mileage, driving comfort and safety. 

 

First, tires designed specifically for electric cars usually have lower rolling resistance. With low rolling resistance, the energy required to move the car is reduced, so electric cars can travel longer distances on a single battery charge. Second, tires for electric cars must be able to withstand the higher torque produced by electric motors. Electric cars tend to have instant, powerful torque, which can cause faster tire wear if not designed properly. To answer this challenge, Dunlop conducted a road test on the Hyundai Ioniq 5 EV car using Dunlop SP Sport LM705 tires and competitor tires which are the car's OEM tires. The test took place non-stop for 30 days in June, with a travel route from Jakarta to Semarang. The results of this trial were very impressive. The Dunlop SP Sport LM705 tires demonstrated excellent performance during this test. Not only are these tires able to withstand the extra weight of an electric car, they also do a good job of dampening vibrations and noise, providing a comfortable and quiet driving experience. In addition, the low rolling resistance of these tires supports power efficiency in electric cars to extend vehicle mileage. 

 

The success of this trial provides good news for electric car owners in Indonesia who have had difficulty finding the right and easy tires, knowing that most electric cars, including tires as a component, are still an imported commodity, so consumers sometimes find it difficult to get goods and often have to dig deeper into their pockets. He also said that this was good news for electric car owners because there are local products that are suitable for use as replacement tires for electric cars.
