Many people probably already know the term blind spot or blind spot in a car. However, not many people anticipated its existence. In fact, being aware of the existence of blind spots will be important for driving safety.
Blind spots are parts of the surroundings that cannot be seen when driving a car. The causes of blind spots are varied. Limited visibility, limited to windows and rearview mirrors, could be the cause. However, the load carried or the shape of the vehicle can also obstruct visibility, creating blind spots.
The existence of blind spots cannot be ignored. Blind spots turn out to be one of the main causes of road accidents.
Incidents usually occur because drivers do not anticipate blind spots. Driving maneuvers are done just like that. In fact, vision at certain points is obstructed. This is what ultimately often triggers accidents.
Therefore, it is very important to know where the blind spots are in the car. However, the location in each vehicle is different. For example, in passenger vehicles, the blind spot is usually to the driver's left or right. This is different with transportation vehicles such as trucks or box cars. Blind spots can appear at the back because the view is blocked by the box or bed of the vehicle.
After knowing the position of the blind spot, the driver can take anticipatory steps. The easiest thing is to increase alertness when driving a car. The driver can look to the right or left first to see the situation before maneuvering.
In addition, drivers must turn on the turn signal when turning left or right. This is so that other vehicles are ready to anticipate the movement that will be made.
Arranging the layout and position of the mirrors correctly is also useful for getting around blind spots. Position the vehicle rearview mirror as parallel to the vehicle body as possible. Then focus the direction away from the vehicle. With this, the rearview mirror will provide maximum visibility.
INSTALL BLIND SPOT MIRRORS
These steps can reduce the risk of driving caused by blind spots. However, if it is still not enough, blind spot mirrors can be installed so that the field of view increases.
Blind spot mirrors can be installed on the rearview mirror as an additional rearview mirror. The glass is small with a convex surface. This type of mirror will function to anticipate blind spots.
Later, the blind spot mirrors will be attached to the main mirrors on the left and right sides of the driver. However, don't just install it. One mistake is not an increase in the range of vision obtained. In fact, the blind spot can become wider if you install it incorrectly.
The main principle for installing blind spot mirrors is not to obstruct the view of the main mirror. The correct position is located on the inside of the top of the main mirror. Putting it there will ensure that the main mirror continues to function optimally.
However, if you install a blind spot mirror on the outside of the bottom of the main glass, the blind spot will not disappear. This position can actually make many objects invisible through the main rearview mirror, which is detrimental.
Therefore, it is very important to install it correctly so that blind spots can be anticipated. Thanks to this, driving is guaranteed to be safe.
