Know More About 3 Types of Car Engines
The engine is a vital part of the vehicle. Thanks to the engine, the car can operate on the road. In general there are three types of car engines. This needs to be understood to know more about each vehicle.
What are they? Here is a brief explanation.
Track Machine
The first type of engine is a stroke or stroke engine. This type of machine works based on blows or strokes.
Broadly speaking, engines are divided into two types, namely 2-stroke engines and 4-stroke engines. Each type has its own way of working and characteristics.
Starting from a 2 stroke engine. This type of engine works with an internal combustion engine which in one combustion cycle will experience two piston strokes. This system produces greater torque. This makes vehicles with 2 stroke engines have quite high pressure. This is commonly referred to by the public as having a “kick” louder.
Meanwhile, a 4-stroke engine is an engine that operates with a piston that moves up and down in the engine cylinder twice. The 4-stroke engine is a refinement of 2-stroke engine technology.
This machine has a number of characters. What is most noticeable is the resulting speed and engine durability. When compared to a 2-stroke engine, the 4-stroke engine's capabilities in these two respects are better.
Internal Combustion Engine
Another type of engine is an internal combustion engine. As the name suggests, this engine is thought to be based on the combustion that occurs in the engine cylinder. Thanks to this process, high pressure temperatures are generated from inside the cylinder.
From there comes the power used to move the piston that moves the wheels. Please note, the piston is a device that moves flexibly in the cylinder. Its presence is useful for transmitting power to the crankshaft with the help of a connecting rod.
To be able to carry out internal combustion operations, liquid or gas fuel is required. As a result, cars need gasoline or diesel to carry out the combustion process that produces power.
Internal combustion engines are known to be environmentally friendly. The combustion results are more efficient so it saves energy. It's not surprising that many of the newest cars choose to use this type of engine.
External Combustion Engine
The last type of engine is the external combustion engine. This type of engine is different from an internal combustion engine which burns in the cylinder. As the name suggests, external combustion engines do the opposite.
This machine operates by utilizing the heat from combustion residue to convert water or other liquids into steam. Then, the steam produced from the conversion process will be channeled in the form of power to rotate the turbine.
External combustion engines are old technology. Usually used by cars in ancient times. Currently, its application is mostly for trains. Unlike internal combustion engines, this type of engine is less environmentally friendly.
Those are the three common types of car engines. For maximum car performance, tires also matter. It is recommended to choose Dunlop tires. Because tires made by Dunlop are known for their quality and are able to continue to provide the best performance on the road.
