Tips to ensure car tires are free from problems
Do you want to always travel by car safely and comfortably? Ensure optimal tire condition. If the tires are free from problems, everything will be easy.
Tires are a vital vehicle component. In direct contact with the road surface, tires are useful in ensuring the car's speed is always smooth.
Therefore, tires must be in optimal condition. There are a number of ways to ensure this. Do it now.
â— Check Tire Pressure Regularly
Pay attention to tire pressure. Always check regularly. Make sure the pressure is as recommended.
Excessive or under-pressure are both bad for tires. If the pressure is low, the tire is prone to bumps or uneven erosion. At that time, the car's speed will be heavy. In the end, fuel consumption is less efficient.
Meanwhile, if the tire pressure is excessive it will make the tire feel hard. Driving becomes less comfortable. In addition, car control is more difficult. Over time, the center of the tire will erode more quickly.
Therefore, the tire pressure must be right. The amount of pressure varies in each car. So, look at the instructions on the car. Usually on the side of the car door there will be a recommendation for ideal tire pressure.
â— Periodic Visual Inspection
It is highly recommended to inspect the tires regularly. Look at the condition carefully.
When doing this, look for various things that have the potential to interfere with tire performance. Look to see if there are any materials such as gravel or sharp objects that have entered between the tire treads. If there is, clean it immediately.
Also pay attention to the side of the tire. Make sure there is no damage such as tears or cracks. Change the tire immediately if you find it.
Then, look at the tire tread. If it starts to wear thin, the tire must be replaced. Pay attention to the tread wear indicator on the tire as an indication. If the tire tread depth approaches 1.6 mm, a tire change is mandatory.
â— Perform Spooring and Balancing
You need to do spooring and balancing regularly. This is very important to keep the car going straight.
You need to be aware that due to collisions with the road surface or being stuck in a hole, the tires can tilt. This condition can be corrected by spooring and balancing.
Spooring is the process of straightening the four wheels of a car back to where they were at the beginning. The goal is so that the results match the factory settings again.
Meanwhile, balancing is an adjustment to maintain balance at the top, bottom or left and right points of the wheel. This process is carried out by adding tin to the parts that are lacking.
Perform both treatments regularly. Ideally every two or three months and when changing tires or rims.
â— Perform a Tire Rotation
Complete all the steps described previously by carrying out a tire rotation. It is highly recommended to rotate the tires so that the level of tire wear is even.
In general, implementation is recommended once every 10 thousand km. However, it is not impossible to be faster if the condition of the tires has deteriorated. Usually the repair shop will give recommendations on tire rotation times.
The implementation of rotation cannot be haphazard. There are rules according to the type of tire and car. For example, the rotation of rear wheel drive tires is different from that of front wheel drive tires.
So, it is recommended to do it in a repair shop. This will ensure the rotation process is correct.
Using all the recommended steps will keep the tire problem-free. Tires will be in optimal condition. However, if the tire's condition has deteriorated, it is better to replace it. Tires have a lifespan so they cannot be forced to be used continuously.
