Tips for Caring for Car Tire Rims to Keep Driving Comfortable
As a component that is in contact with tires, car tire rims must be regularly maintained so that their performance remains optimal. Moreover, rims are also a component that influences the overall appearance of the car. A car whose rims are modified will definitely look drastically changed. So, to keep your rims looking shiny and cool, here are tips for caring for car rims that Drivemate can apply.
1. Make sure to choose tires that match the rim size
The size of the rims varies, from the smallest 17 inches to the largest 22 inches. Make sure the tires that Drivemate chooses match that size. Inappropriate rims and tires will only damage each other and endanger safety.
Apart from size, make sure the tires and rims you choose also suit the type of car. For example, for Sport Utility Vehicles or SUVs, it is recommended to choose an all-terrain tire type that is suitable for various terrains. The rims chosen must also be compatible with all-terrain type tires so that the car's speed remains stable and easy to control.
2. Clean the rims regularly
For cars that are used as daily drives, they will definitely come into direct contact with heat, rain and dust. These conditions can affect the service life of car tire rims. Especially if the rims are often exposed to puddles of water after rain which contains acid. This will cause the car's tire rims to rust quickly. Therefore, when the car rims get wet, immediately clean and dry them.
When cleaning, make sure the rims are cool. Hot rims that are doused with water will actually trigger the appearance of fungus. Use a special liquid for cleaning car wheel rims, not detergent soap which can make the rims look dull and leave spots.
3. Maintain tire pressure
When the air pressure in the tire is low, a collision has the potential to cause a dent in the rim. This is because air pressure below normal will make it difficult for the tire tread and tire walls to absorb impacts. As a result, the impact immediately spread to the lip of the rim. The damage will be worse if you drive the car at high speed.
Always check Drivemate tire pressure, especially after using it on long trips or after the car is carrying a heavy load. If the tire pressure is low, fill it immediately.
4. Avoid potholes
When passing through uneven roads with lots of potholes, Drivemate should drive the car at medium or slow speed according to road conditions. That way, when you find a hole, you can avoid it. At low speeds, the car's suspension will work to absorb shocks. However, it would be better if Drivemate looked for alternative roads that have been paved and smoother.
5. Don't carry excessive weight
Avoid carrying excessive weight in the car because it can cause the rims to bend. When the load being transported exceeds normal capacity, the load plus the weight of the car will put pressure on the car's undercarriage. This pressure will damage the car tire rims. When traveling, make sure Drivemate only carries items according to the load capacity that the car can accommodate.
6. Always drive safely
You should not drive a car at high speeds because it can damage components. Not only does it have the potential to damage car tire rims, driving at high speed can also endanger safety.
Make sure Drivemate has the complete driving documents and obeys applicable traffic signs. Don't drive your car recklessly because every year the number of people who die on the road due to accidents is quite high.
7. Perform regular checks
In order for car tire rims to remain durable and can be used for a long period of time, Drivemate must carry out regular checks. Without regular checks, it will be difficult for Drivemate to detect damage. Ideally, checks are carried out at least once per month. Check whether the position of each of your car's rims remains precise or whether some have shifted due to passing through potholes.
It is stated that one way to care for car rims is to choose car rims of the right size. Apart from that, make sure the tires you choose are of high quality because they have been tested over time. Quality tires are of course available at dunlop.co.id. Drivemates can also carry out car foot maintenance at the Dunlop Shop which provides comprehensive service.
