Be aware of the causes of burning cars
Cases of cars suddenly catching fire are quite common. In order not to experience this, it is very important to be aware of the various causes. This is very useful for taking anticipatory steps.
It is known that incidents of cars catching fire have occurred several times. The government is actually aware of this condition. So, in Law 22 No 2009 concerning Road Transport Traffic (LLAJ) Article 278, it is stated about the obligation to have a light fire extinguisher (APAR) in the car. If you don't have it, there are sanctions waiting.
Owning an APAR is very useful when a car catches fire. However, of course it is better not to experience a fire. Therefore, knowing the various causes will be very helpful in anticipating them.
These are the things that can cause a car to catch fire. You should be wary of it.
A. Electrical Issues
Disturbances in the electrical system can trigger a car fire. Usually the fire starts from a short circuit that occurs. This can eventually spread everywhere.
Car electricity is closely related to the battery. This is where the entire car's electrical system begins. However, when the battery has problems, hydrogen gas can collect in the engine room. This will be dangerous if there is a short circuit that causes sparks.
So, always check the condition of the battery. Make sure it is always in optimal condition.
Then, it is recommended not to use unofficial vehicle electrical accessories. This can also disrupt the car's electrical system, thereby triggering a fire. Because, there is a possibility of incompatibility there.
As a precaution, it is recommended to install safety fuses in every electrical accessory you own. The fuse will be able to cut off the current when a short circuit occurs in the electrical system.
B. Engine Overheat
An engine that is too hot or overheats can also lead to a car fire. This condition is often triggered by problems with the vehicle's cooling system or radiator.
When a radiator component is damaged, the engine will not be able to operate efficiently. In the end, friction appears in the engine components. This will cause a significant increase in temperature, thereby triggering a fire in the car.
For this reason, make sure the radiator and engine cooling system are running well. Also look at the vehicle heat indicator. If you feel it is too much, then stop the vehicle until it cools down before repairs are carried out.
C. Fuel Leak
Damage to the fuel tank can start a fire. There could be a leak there. Ultimately, a fire can occur when a spark occurs there, either due to a short circuit or from outside the vehicle.
Fuel tank leaks may occur due to various reasons. However, corrosion is often the main cause. The fuel tank is rusty because there is water in it because it is often empty. Therefore, it is recommended to fill the fuel tank frequently to avoid this problem.
D. Accident
Various types of accidents can trigger car fires. Very hard collisions can spark fire. It is very dangerous if this gets into the fuel or oil tank. Fire can spread.
Apart from that, the presence of flammable objects in the car can also increase the potential for fire. For example, gas lighters, thinner, or gasoline.
If left in the car cabin in hot conditions and exposed to the sun for too long, these objects can explode. This could start a fire. So, be careful about storing objects that are prone to exploding or burning in the vehicle.
Be aware of a number of things that are likely to trigger a fire. Then, take anticipatory steps. The threat of burning cars can definitely be overcome.
