Be aware of the causes of car brakes failing
The car brakes must always be on. It is very dangerous if the braking system is not functioning properly. Therefore, you must be aware of various causes of car brakes failing.
The brakes should function optimally. You are obliged to carry out checks when there are a number of suspicious signs below:
â— The brake pedal needs to be pressed deeply to function.
â— There is a strong vibration when braking.
â— There is a squeaking sound when the brake pedal is pressed.
Some of these conditions could be indicators of brake problems. So, immediately do a check when you experience it.
However, so that these problems do not arise, you need to understand the various causes of brake problems. Then immediately take precautions so that the brakes don't fail. Here are some of them:
Brake Fluid Problems
Brakes require the support of brake fluid as a lubricant. Therefore, problems with the brake fluid can cause brake problems.
The problem that is often experienced is brake fluid leaks. This can cause the brake fluid to run out without you realizing it. If that happened it would be very dangerous. Braking will definitely not work optimally.
Look at the brake indicator light to identify it. However, you can also do testing. Step on the brake when you want to use the car. If the brakes feel loose, it could be that the brake fluid has run out.
There's no harm in looking under the car. Look to see if there are any oil droplets there. If the brakes are in good condition, this should not be there.
Apart from running out, dirty brake fluid can also trigger brake failure. With use, the quality of brake fluid will decrease. The condition will become cloudy so it is prone to triggering crusting.
This is also dangerous for the braking system. So, if it is dirty, it is recommended to immediately replace the brake fluid.
Brake Piston Failure
Brake pistons have an important role in the braking system. The presence of the piston allows hydraulic pressure from the brake pedal to press the brake lining
If the brake piston is damaged, then the process will not function properly. As a result, the brakes will not grip, and may even fail.
It is recommended to check the condition of the brake piston. If there is rust or wear, it is better to have it repaired immediately.
However, that's not the only problem with the brake piston. Damage to the brake master cylinder piston seal can also occur. When that happens, braking will not be optimal.
Usually this damage occurs due to use. Over time, the master brake piston seal will wear. This can also be made worse by poor brake fluid conditions. So, choosing quality brake fluid could be the solution.
Brake System Leak
The brake system must always be optimal. If a leak occurs, the brakes will certainly not work properly. In fact, it could be a failure.
Most leaks occur in the car brake master. The trigger is most often caused by using the brakes for a long time. For example, when used on long trips with intensive braking. It could be that, if the brakes are not given a chance to rest, the car's brake master will leak.
Apart from the car's brake master, potential leaks can also appear in the car's brake lines. However, this is usually due to the condition of the car's aging brake lines.
After being used for a long time, its performance and elasticity can decrease, resulting in leaks. Therefore, as a precaution, it is necessary to check the brake system regularly.
There are several reasons why car brakes fail and you need to be aware of them. However, to ensure that all brake components are functioning optimally, carry out regular checks. Perform servicing every 10 thousand kilometers or 40 thousand kilometers for hydraulic brakes.
