7 Mandatory Equipment for Motocross Activities
Many people think that trail bikes and motocross are the same type of motorbike. At first glance, the designs of the two motorbikes do not look much different. However, Drivemate must know that the two motorbikes are in fact... has different uses.
A trail motorbike is a type of allroad motorbike. This means that this motorbike can be used off road or on urban highways just by changing the type of tire. Different from trail bikes, motocross is generally intended for circuits and is not allowed to be ridden on public roads.
The reason is, trail bikes still have equipment like motorbikes in general, such as mirrors, turn signals and front and rear lights. All of this equipment cannot be found in motocross which prioritizes designs for racing and higher engine specifications.
If Drivemate has the desire to start motocross activities, there is some special equipment that must be prepared beforehand. Of course, all of this is important for Drivemate's safety because the terrain they will face will definitely be more challenging, so the risks will also be higher. Indeed, equipment What is needed?
1. Competent tires
For a motorbike, tires are a very important part, especially for motocross activities. How come? This activity is carried out in unusual terrain. In fact, choosing the wrong tire can have fatal consequences. So, Drivemate should not be careless in choosing tires for this activity.
In order to meet these needs, Dunlop provides Dunlop Geomax MX33 which has a new compound and pattern to ensure tire durability and make the tire anti-cracking. Apart from that, there is also the Dunlop MX53 which can improve control performance and rider maneuverability thanks to the help of an innovative tread pattern. This type of tire can make professional riders faster, while for beginner riders it can help them be more aggressive.
2. Helmet
All motorbike riders are required to use SNI helmets. However, for motocross activities, an ordinary SNI helmet is not enough. There are special helmets designed with longer muzzles to make it easier for Drivemate to breathe because this activity will drain energy. This muzzle is also useful for protecting the driver's teeth and chin in the event of a collision.
3. Body protector
Difficult terrain means crossers must pay more attention to personal safety by using additional protection. Protectors that can be used include chest, elbow, knee and other body parts that are prone to injury if a crosser falls.
With body protectors, at least the driver will not suffer serious injury if something undesirable happens. So, there's no need to worry about sacrificing safety for Drivemate's happiness.
4. Neck brace
As the name suggests, the neck brace functions to support the neck when the Drivemate is traveling along a very bumpy motocross circuit. That way, the risk of fatal neck injuries can be greatly reduced.
5. Special clothing
Apart from safety, a crosser must also wear comfortable clothing. Therefore, it is important for Drivemates to wear long-sleeved clothes made from special materials, as well as other accessories such as gloves and socks that are safe and comfortable to wear.
6. Boots
Using regular shoes for motocross is not recommended. Apart from being prone to damage, ordinary shoes will also not be able to protect the rider's feet optimally. The right type of shoe to use is boots. These shoes not only have strong durability, but can also protect the rider's shins which are prone to fatal injuries.
7. Glasses
In general, Motocross helmets do not have visors. Therefore, to protect the face, especially the eyes, Drivemate must have special glasses or goggles as a replacement for the visor function.
One of the reasons why goggles are so much better than visors is how easy they are to clean. Riders don't need to bother opening the helmet, removing the visor, cleaning it, then putting it back on. Drivemate only needs to remove the goggles and clean them if vision is disturbed due to accumulated dust or mud.
Well, that's some of the equipment that Drivemates must have before starting Motocross activities. None of the equipment above should be underestimated because unlike riding a regular motorbike, a crosser will face heavier obstacles and a greater risk of accidents.
