Find out the difference between Spooring and Balancing before servicing!
Car maintenance certainly needs to be done regularly so that Drivemate can continue to drive comfortably. One form of maintenance that you must do is spooring and balancing car tires. Indeed, what is spooring and balancing and when should you do it? Check out the explanation below so Drivemate knows when is the best time to do both!
What is Spooring?
Spooring is an alignment process to balance the car tires so that they have a straight position between the front and rear. The spooring process itself includes caster, camber, turning radius, andtoe angle (both toe-in and toe-out).
The spooring function is quite important in maintaining the stability of the car, including keeping the tires turning after turning. This treatment also ensures that the car tires do not lose control when the steering wheel is released. Apart from that, spooring can also prevent wear on the inside and sides of the car tires.
What is Balancing?
If spooring is a process carried out to equalize the condition of car tires, balancing is needed so that the tire rotation becomes more balanced with each other. This process is usually also carried out after replacing tires or rims.
No less important than spooring, balancing is also useful for maintaining the maximum rotation of the tires as usual. That way, the car has good speed because the wheels rotate in one rhythm. Plus, there are several cars whose power is located on all four wheels at once or what is called 4 wheel drive (4WD).
4 Signs Your Car Needs Spooring and Balancing
After knowing what spooring and balancing are and their benefits, when does Drivemate need to carry out these two treatments? Here are four signs you need to pay attention to.
1. The car turns itself while moving
The first sign that you need spooring is when the car seems to want to turn by itself when the Drivemate is going straight. Even though you rarely let go of the wheel, this kind of thing can certainly cause danger on the road. For this reason, immediately take it to the nearest repair shop and make sure the car tires follow the steering wheel so that you can travel safely to your destination.
2. The steering wheel vibrates while driving
The steering wheel vibrating while driving can not only be felt by two-wheeled vehicle drivers, you know! Drivemates who drive the car can also experience the same thing if the front tire condition is unstable. Of course, events like this will make your driving experience less comfortable.
The reason is that the vibrations that occur are usually caused by an imbalance in the position of the tires relative to each other. Apart from that, the faster your vehicle goes, the more vibrations will be felt. To avoid the risk of the steering wheel vibrating while driving, make sure you have done spooring and balancing the car.
3. The vehicle seems to have lost its balance
The next sign that indicates that Drivemate needs to do spooring and balancing is when the vehicle seems to lose balance. Driving in an unsafe condition is certainly a taboo for everyone, especially if you have to go fast, such as on a toll road.
Loss of vehicle balance can certainly trigger various dangerous risks that every driver wants to avoid. So, try to do spooring and balancing to avoid each of these risks, okay!
4. The front and rear tires are not aligned
Finally, Drivemate needs to do spooring and balancing when the front and rear tires of the car are not aligned. You can observe this after parking the vehicle. Position yourself a few meters from the car and observe, are the front tires of your car in the same position as the rear tires? If not, of course you need to take it to the nearest car repair shop as soon as possible.
So, do you know what spooring and balancing are? So that Drivemate can continue to drive safely, this spooring and balancing must be done regularly. Of course, now you also know the signs that a car is out of balance.
For this reason, immediately visit the nearest workshop such as the Dunlop Shop which can help you with spooring and balancing. You can also replace the tires at the same time if the surface feels worn out. Come on, check the catalog first here or follow Dunlop Instagram for more complete information!
Safe and reliable Spooring Balancing can also be done at the nearest Dunlop Shop!
